The Celestron CPC Deluxe 925 HD (item 11008) is a 9.25-inch computerized telescope for serious visual observing and astrophotography. It pairs Celestron's EdgeHD optics with a GPS-equipped dual fork mount and a database of more than 40,000 celestial objects. Modern Telescopes, India's largest telescope seller, supplies it to enthusiasts, dealers, schools and research institutions across the country.

EdgeHD optics for sharp stars to the edge of the field

A standard Schmidt-Cassegrain shows coma and field curvature away from the centre of the view. EdgeHD corrects both, so stars stay pinpoint across large imaging sensors and to the edge of wide eyepieces.

The 235mm aperture collects 1,127 times more light than the human eye. It reaches a limiting stellar magnitude of 14.4 and resolves detail down to 0.49 arc seconds (Dawes limit). StarBright XLT coatings on all optical surfaces increase light transmission for brighter images.

A dual fork mount built for accuracy

The CPC Deluxe drive train uses a 6-inch brass gear, a stainless steel worm gear, and steel and nylon ball bearings. DC servo motors slew at up to 5° per second across nine speeds. The telescope tracks at sidereal, solar and lunar rates, in altazimuth, EQ North or EQ South mode.

The fork design needs no counterweights, and it balances the tube between two arms. Built-in carrying handles make the mount easier to lift onto its stainless steel tripod.

Ready for astrophotography

Out of the box, the CPC Deluxe can track accurately for exposures of up to 30 seconds without a wedge. That suits the Moon, planets and short-exposure stacking.

For longer deep-sky exposures, add the HD Pro Wedge. It enables All-Star Polar Alignment and Permanently Programmable Periodic Error Correction. The telescope also tracks through the meridian without a meridian flip, so imaging runs continue while your target is highest in the sky.

Simple to set up and use

The internal 16-channel GPS and NexStar+ hand control guide you through SkyAlign. Centre any three bright objects, such as stars, planets or the Moon, and the telescope orients itself. It can then find and track more than 40,000 objects.

The hand control has a USB port for PC connection, and CPWI software supports advanced pointing models. Add the SkyPortal WiFi Module to control the telescope from a phone or tablet. Add StarSense AutoAlign and it aligns itself in under three minutes.

Observing from India

India's position gives this telescope a wide view of the sky, including southern objects that are hard or impossible to see from Europe and most of the USA. Omega Centauri, the brightest globular cluster, rises well above the horizon from most of the country.

The post-monsoon months usually bring the clearest skies, while coastal and monsoon conditions make dew a real concern. A dew shield or dew heater ring is a sensible addition. In city skies, the Moon and planets remain excellent targets because they are bright enough to cut through light pollution.

Who it suits

The CPC Deluxe 925 HD suits three kinds of buyer:

  • Experienced observers moving up from a smaller Dobsonian or Schmidt-Cassegrain.
  • Astrophotographers who want flat-field optics and a mount that can be permanently installed.
  • Schools, colleges and science centres that need one reliable instrument for teaching and public viewing.

It is not a grab-and-go telescope. The optical tube and mount weigh 26.3 kg together and the full kit weighs 34.9 kg, so lifting it onto the tripod is best done with care, ideally by two people. First-time buyers may prefer a lighter telescope.

For institutions and observatories

Modern Telescopes supplies and installs telescopes, imaging cameras and motorized observatory domes for institutional clients, and can supply through GeM. A CPC Deluxe 925 HD can form the core of a campus observatory, with the dome, wedge, camera and installation handled by one team.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the Celestron CPC Deluxe 925 HD in India?

Pricing depends on current import costs and accessories. Please check current price on the Modern Telescopes website.

Is the CPC Deluxe 925 HD good for astrophotography?

Yes. Its EdgeHD optics give a flat field across large camera sensors. Without a wedge it tracks accurately for exposures of up to 30 seconds, and the HD Pro Wedge enables longer deep-sky exposures.

Do I need a wedge?

Not for visual observing or short exposures. You need the HD Pro Wedge for equatorial long-exposure imaging, or the PrimaLuceLab system for deep-sky work without a wedge.

How much magnification does it give?

The included 23mm eyepiece gives 102x. The telescope's useful range is 34x to 555x, although steady air is needed at the high end.

How heavy is it?

The optical tube and mount weigh 26.3 kg together, and the tripod weighs 8.6 kg. The full kit weighs 34.9 kg.

Can a beginner use it?

Yes, because GPS and SkyAlign simplify setup. Its weight and cost make it better suited to committed observers than first-time buyers.

Can I control it from my phone?

Yes, with the optional SkyPortal WiFi Module and the SkyPortal app.

Is it suitable for a college or school observatory?

Yes. Its database, tracking and imaging options suit teaching and public viewing. Modern Telescopes can also supply observatory domes and installation, and can supply through GeM.
