Weighing only 17.4 lbs (7.9 kg), the CEM40 can support an impressive 40 lbs (18 kg) payload, giving it an outstanding 2.28 payload-to-mount weight ratio. Innovative Center-Balanced Design

Unlike traditional German equatorial mounts, iOptron’s center-balanced architecture positions the payload directly over the tripod’s center of gravity. This results in improved stability, reduced strain on the motors, smoother tracking, and greater efficiency—especially important for long-exposure astrophotography.

The integrated iPolar™ electronic polar scope allows fast and ultra-precise polar alignment, even when Polaris is not visible. Large quick-lock gear clutches make engaging the drive system effortless, even while wearing gloves.

Precision Tracking & Smart Control

The CEM40 uses ultra-quiet, low-power precision stepper motors combined with low periodic error (< ±7.5 arc seconds) and Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC) to deliver smooth, accurate tracking.
The Go2Nova® 8410 hand controller, featuring Advanced GOTONOVA® GOTO Technology and a built-in heater, gives access to a massive 212,000+ object database, complete with star identification.

A 6″ dual Losmandy-D & Vixen saddle provides flexibility for a wide range of optical tubes, while the internal cable management system keeps power and data cables tidy and snag-free.

Stable 1.5″ Stainless Steel Tripod

This configuration includes the 1.5″ heavy-duty stainless steel tripod, offering excellent rigidity and vibration damping while remaining highly portable. With the included 11 lb (5 kg) counterweight, you’re ready to add an OTA and start observing or imaging.
